Bentz introduces bill honoring Mabry Anders

If, as Baker City Police Chief Wyn Lohner, expects, Turbo, the city’s drug detection dog is forced into retirement on July 1, the chief says he’s ready to put together a plan to secure funding for another dog.

Baker City Police are continuing to urge residents living on the west side of Highway 7 on the south end of town to be alert to the possible presence of a cougar.

February in its final week finally started acting like, well, February.

Until then it felt rather more like April.

The late spell of seasonably chilly weather kept the month from setting a record as the mildest February since at least 1943 in Baker City.
