Council should focus on city
Council should focus on city
|
To the editor: In my belief a City Council meeting should be city leaders and concerned citizens addressing city issues without forcing people into some religious social. It really bothers me when the people making the decisions affecting all of us are praying for the wisdom or courage to make a decision. If you're that stupid or insecure you should keep it to yourself. Don't remind me I've wasted my vote. The Pledge of Allegiance belongs. There have been Americans giving their lives since before there was an America so that we can live with the wonderful freedoms we have. The Pledge belongs at a council meeting but keep your religious beliefs to yourself and out of city business. I favor a time of silence so all can gather their thoughts and remember the purpose of the meeting is to keep Baker City a great place to live. If there are those that cannot function without praying out loud, let them gather on the lawn. Don't force everyone else to listen. The city needs to get beyond this issue. A church social is the perfect place to pray. Life is real. Let's have some respect for all. Paul Schwarz Baker City |
