Embarrassments all around

To the editor:

I don't know whom to be embarrassed more for.

First the mayor and city manager make an attempt to embarrass a council member they are often at odds with by misreading a parking ordinance, covered in a front page article in the Herald.

Now a second article in a week headlines the same council member for a violation of riding a bike on the sidewalk.

When will this scofflaw be brought to justice?

The first story was an embarrassment to the city because it brought into question the caliber of the government, and the second a minor embarrassment to Beverly Calder for receiving a citation, and both were embarrassments for the newspaper for pandering to sensationalism.

We all have better things to concern ourselves with.
