Get the oil, but don't see the mess

To the editor: One sees many editorials in the press and often hears on the street that we should open our coastal areas to oil drilling, that doing so would increase our oil supply and reduce prices of oil derived products to the consumer. This view seems to be professed more strongly in direct proportion to the speaker's distance from the coast. By this line of reasoning, and with about as many cattle as people, beef in Baker County should retail for about a dollar a pound. Buck Pilkenton Sumpter |
