Letter to the editor for September 9, 2008

More important matters than dots

To the editor:

Several times I’ve opened the local newspapers to the Editorial page and read letters to the editor from people voicing their opinions about issues they have with the local media.

Never did I think that one day I may be one of them. But here I am.

I would like to know why dots on a sidewalk made front page headlines on more then one occasion, but never once did I read anything about Baker City Manager Steve Brocato being investigated on “allegations of harassing a child.”

I would think that there was enough evidence to get the story out there when our local D.A. sent the case to the Harney County D.A.

As City Manager Brocato’s behavior reflects on the city as a whole, what does this do to the city image as a whole? Can’t be good ...

So maybe now we could get the local media to quit seeing “dots” and get back to some real issues concerning the people of Baker.

And remember it’s an election year. If the City Council doesn’t handle this to you the voters satisfaction, vote them out.

Gaylene Morris
