Let the military run the military To the editor: We have seen a good deal in the news about the recent repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” which will clear the way for gays and lesbians to join, or remain in, the U.S. military forces without fear of any restrictions. Many of these people seem to think that their vote will ensure that they will be regarded as politically correct and that they are preaching from the moral high ground. They fail to realize they may be forcing a minority group (the military) into a situation that may cause dissension. I would propose that every time you write about those praising this legislation that you give the military background (experience) of the person you are quoting. You might begin with a list of this experience for President Obama, members of the Congress who voted for the repeal and even your own editorial writer. Let the military run the military.
