We shouldn’t forget Brocato firing To the editor: Gail Duman, former city councilor, suggests, in a letter that appeared Wednesday, Feb. 17, that we should forget the events of last June 9 when City Manager Steve Brocato was fired. Mistakes do not contribute much to one’s experience when they are forgotten. I suggest that we not forget. Milo Pope City Councilor Baker City
To the editor: It was wonderful to see the front page pictures of Nellie Langlitz, Fred Warner Sr., and Myrtle Petersen, accompanying Lisa Britton’s fun article regarding the Monday night Historical Society’s event at the Baker Heritage Museum. This letter is to give recognition to the Blue Mountain Fiddlers, who were also there sharing their fun, toe-tapping, “old time” talents before and after the historical event. They came solely as a result of Nellie Langlitz’s request that they do so. Nellie’s husband, Walt Langlitz, was a longtime revered member, leader, and trophied competitor, in the Blue Mountain Old Time Fiddlers Association (BMOTFA). Those entertaining us were Denny Langford, president of the BMOTFA; Bob Hunt, Baker County Director of the BMOTFA; Manny Gutierrez; Bill McManus; and Stephanie Gordon. An enthusiastic-big-hand-clapping thank you! Linda Wall Board member, Baker County Historical Society Baker City |
