Letters to the Editor for March 24, 2009

Lead or get out of the way

To the editor:

I, for one, am tired of the obstructionist behavior from the conservatives in this country, both in Congress and outside of Congress. If they are truly indignant over money now being spent on the American public the way it should have been spent these past eight years, then I have to ask them: Where was your voice during the previous administration when our men and women went to a war ill-prepared; without body armor, in jeeps and Humvees not equipped with armor?

Where were your voices as we watched the previous administration spend down the windfall they inherited, to the tune of $10 billion a day to the war in Iraq?

How dare you NOW become outraged as there is money freed up for schools, energy programs, bridges, the elderly. So either offer an alternative program and lead, or shut up and get out of the way.
