Letters to the Editor for Sept 28, 2009

It’s a fine time to say thanks To the editor: Certainly there is enough local smack to keep our townspeople engaged these days n’er we overlook another positive example of why we should always feel very fortunate to call this place “home.” Respectfully, a big expression of appreciation is due to all the driving forces behind the restoration of one of our town’s greatest antiquities — the Baker County clock tower. Thanks so much to the Class of 2009 Clock Huggers Society. And to old clock repairer extraordinaire, Chuck Roeser, for directing his knowledge and passion towards making good things last. Finally, to Tabor Clarke, for gifting us yet another example of his love for the history and beauty in our fine little community. Let us praise those that get good things done, without all the fanfare and controversy that seems to accompany so many high profile events. I for one, am enjoying the clean, stylized look of our newly preserved tower along with every chime and ringing bell that graces our downtown. John Watson Baker City |
