When secular, sacred get too close
When secular, sacred get too close

To the editor: As regards the invocation issue facing the Baker City Council: I am reminded of Pope Benedict XVI's recent admonition of the danger that lurks when the sacred and the secular become too closely entwined. The sacred often becomes the servant of the secular. With this in mind one does fervently hope that the council members do indeed wish to say a public prayer before their council meetings and not rather, merely to be seen praying publicly. Stephen S.
