Of the Baker City Herald

Baker City welcomed its first baby of the new year when little Isabella Nichole Carrillo arrived at 7:38 p.m. on New Years Day at St. Elizabeth Health Services.

The first child for Linda and Antonio Carrillo of Haines, Isabella weighed 7-pounds, 13 ounces. She is the first granddaughter for Jo Ann Illingsworth and Ray and Tana Illingsworth, both of Haines. Her great-grandmother is Laura Gebert.

Linda said she predicted her child would be the first one born in 2002 when she first learned of her due date.

Im so glad shes here, Linda said and added that Cloud Nine isnt high enough for proud father Antonio. He is employed as a ranchhand by Shoemaker Eddleman Line-Bred Quarter Horses of Haines.

Linda is employed at the Oregon State Employment Division to assist veterans in obtaining training and employment. She is a veteran herself, having served in the U.S. Army as a specialist E-4 at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Linda remarked that baby Isabella is the first baby in a new year of working toward peace for the world.
