Bennett appointed to Baker County Commission

By Terri Harber

Baker City Herald

The Baker County Commissioners on Wednesday morning appointed Mark Bennett to take the commission seat vacated in April by Carl Stiff.

Bennett, a Unity resident, is the director of emergency management operations and the planning department.

He’s also an area rancher, on the Burnt River School Board and the acting city manager of Unity.

He said he’d be willing to resign from his other county employment if chosen for the part-time commission seat to avoid any potential conflicts.

Bennett will be sworn in on Wednesday afternoon (May 8), said Tami Green, Baker County clerk.
