City ending burning ban Tuesday morning

Baker City Fire Chief Jim Price announced Monday morning that the outdoor burning ban, which had been in effect within the city limits for several weeks, will be canceled as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16.

A story on Page 1A of today's Baker City Herald notes that as of press time the burning ban was still in effect. Price issued a news release after today's issue had been printed, stating: "Due to the recent wet weather and cooler tempeartures, the fire danger level has dropped from its recent extreme condition to a more moderate level."

Price reminded residents that outdoor burning permits are required. Permits are available at the fire station, 1616 Second St.
