There are quite a few Easter bunnies in Baker County.

But not all of them deliver eggs.

Some bring chocolate, and some bring jelly beans.

A few hand out stuffed rabbits and bears, and one gives T-shirts.

But although their gifts arent all the same, their reason for giving is:

I love the kids, said Pattie Vanderwiele of Triple C Redi-Mix. They are our future. They come first.

The Baker City company was one of 73 businesses or families that donated cash, toys or candy for the citys annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The event is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Geiser Pollman Park.

Triple C has contributed to the hunt for many years, and always in generous amounts.

This year the company donated 22 stuffed animals and $200 in cash.

There are kids that go without, and this is a nice way to see them get something, Vanderwiele said. I wish I could do a basket for all of them, but this is something we can do.

Vanderwiele said she enjoys her role as an Easter bunny helper.

As long as Im alive Ill be shopping for bunnies and bears for the kids, and helping out with the Easter egg hunt, she said. When you stop believing in the Easter bunny youre too old.

I believe in the Easter bunny.
