The Baker City Police Department is finishing its investigation of the death of Jordan Ryan, a 5-year-old Baker City boy killed by a pit bull while visiting the home of a family friend on Friday, Sept. 27.

The incident report should be turned over to the District Attorney’s office  by the end of the week, said Police Chief Wyn Lohner.

Once that occurs, the district attorney will review the information and determine whether to file criminal charges, or present the case to the grand jury.

Thousands of people have expressed interest in reaching out to the boy’s family to offer support and condolences.

There was a public memorial held for Jordan outside his kindergarten on Sunday, Sept. 29. More than 150 people attended.

Note: An obituary on this website contains information about a Tuesday celebration of Jordan’s life.

Donations:

There is a savings account open at Wells Fargo Bank in the names of Michelle Ryan (the boy’s mother) and Jordan. Money is being collected to help his family pay for the child’s funeral expenses.

Make checks payable to Michelle Ryan or Jordan Ryan, in care of Wells Fargo Bank, 1205 Campbell St., Baker City, OR 97814.

Any Wells Fargo branch can accept these donation deposits.

Autumn Brooks, the granddaughter of Darlene Lethlean, who died Sept. 22, also is asking those who wish to make contributions in her grandmother’s memory to direct them to the fund established for the family.

Condolences:

Send cards, letters and other items expressing support and concern for his relatives to this address: The Jordan Ryan family, 2545 Grove St. Baker City, OR 97814.
