Master Gardener program begins Feb. 11

The 2010 OSU Master Gardener Program begins Feb. 11 and continues
every Thursday, from 5:15 p.m. to 9 p.m., through April 29 at the
Community Event Center, 2600 East St. The deadline to register is Feb.
1.
The cost is $150, of which $100 is nonrefundable. The cost includes a textbook, “Sustainable Gardening — Oregon, Washington Master Gardener Handbook,” handouts and 14 weeks of instruction from Extension agents and professionals from Oregon and Idaho. Couples may register for $250 and receive one handbook. Graduates may receive a refund of up to $50 by paying back service hours at the OSU Extension office help desk or adopting a community service project. Also, Master Gardener alumni can attend any class for $10. Thursday class topics include small fruits and grapes, photography for horticulture, propagation of plants, lawns and their care, ornamental trees and shrubs, integrated pest management, soils and botany and plant diseases. There will be three Saturday classes open to the general public for a $10 registration fee.
