Police released some additional information about the death of a local boy as a result of a dog attack on Friday morning.

The boy is Jordan Micheal Ryan, 5, of Baker City. He was at a friend’s residence between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. when the pit bull attack occurred, Police Chief Wyn Lohner said Saturday.

“The dog is in custody and is no further threat at this time,” Lohner earlier emphasized.

The investigation is continuing. Lohner said he expects there should be more information available about the incident on Monday.

A memorial will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday for Jordan in front of the kindergarten he attended.

One of the organizers, Cassie Glerup, said there will be a candle lighting, release of balloons and that people could leave flowers.

Her daughter, Madison, went to kindergarten with Jordan, she said.

The idea is to “send thoughts and prayers out to everyone who’s lives this little boy touched,” Glerup posted on Facebook. “Let’s pull together in support for a beautiful life taken too soon.”
