Edna Darnielle

Baker City, 1922-2013

Edna Darnielle, 90, of Baker City, died April 25, 2013, at her home.

A memorial service will take place this summer in Portland.

Edna was born on Nov. 17, 1922, at The Dalles to Edward and Sarah (Hamilton) Maynard.  She graduated from The Dalles High School in 1940.

Edna is survived by her sister, Margaret Sell of Milwaukie; her daughter, Sally Hewitt of Baker City; her son, Robbin L. Lee of Lake Oswego; her stepson, Carey Darnielle of Antelope; four grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; and Sweetie Cat, her furry friend of 12 years.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynn H. Lee,; her husband, Roderick O. Darnielle; and her son, Craig E. Lee.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzeimer’s Association or Habitat for Humanity through Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.

James Thompson

Baker City, 1925-2013

James “Lloyd” Thompson, Sr., 87, of Baker City, died April 30, 2013, at St. Alphonsus Medical Center-Baker City.

Lloyd was born on Oct. 15, 1925, at Broken Arrow, Okla., to James and Rhonda (Page) Thompson. He worked for Alcoa Aluminum in Troutdale for 20 years.

Lloyd married Viola (Eveland) Thompson in 1979 in Kelso, Wash. He enjoyed leather work, fishing and hunting.

Lloyd is survived by his wife; his brothers, Wallace Thompson of Boring and Gene Thompson of Gresham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his ex-wife, Eva Thompson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association through Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.

Cynthia Johnson

Formerly Baker City, 1952-2013

Cynthia K. (Henry) Johnson, a former Baker City resident, died April 21, 2013, in Medford. She suffered with sarcoidosis for many years and then developed congestive heart failure.

A memorial service was held April 25, and she was laid to rest in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Cindy was born at Medford on Nov. 21, 1952. She graduated from from Baker High School and went in the Army soon after being mostly stationed in Korea and Arizona. She was a graduate of Southern Oregon University in Ashland. She worked for many years at the Veteran’s Domiciliary in White City until her health forced her to retire.

She is survived by her son, Eli, daughter-in-law Jessie, Dominic and Lillian, and a brother, Kevin Henry of Medford.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim, her mother, Carolyn, her sister, Teresa and her brother, Mike.
