Oregon State Spring Classic

Lydia Andersen of Baker City explains how a new technology called “Equinosis’’ can help detect lameness in horses. The system uses a small computerized device that detects and determines the degree of lameness. Andersen placed second in the senior presentation competition, which was won by Cody Arbogast of Wallowa County.

Baker County 4-H’ers competed against teams from throughout Oregon during the Oregon State Spring Classic. The three-day event at Baker High School and the Baker County Fairgrounds included these contests: Hippology, Horse Bowl, Presentations, Public Speaking and Horse Judging. About 250 team members and their families attended an awards banquet at the fairgrounds Saturday night. More event results will be published Wednesday.
