Private Woodlands Association's annual meeting Jan. 23
Baker County’s Private Woodlands Association will have its annual meeting Jan. 23 at Brent and Eileen Gyllenberg’s ranch south of Baker City.
In addition to the election of new officers and a discussion of issues such as the Blue Mountain Woodland Owner Cooperative, the annual meeting will be a chance for woodland owners to socialize and enjoy a potluck dinner featuring the Gyllenbergs’ free-range buffalo.
There will be a carpool, with vehicles leaving the OSU Extension Office, 2600 East St. in Baker City, at 5:30 p.m., returning about 8:30 p.m.
If the weather is inclement, the meeting will take place at the Extension Office instead.
People planning to attend should call the Extension Office at 541-523-6418 and let organizers know what dishes they’ll bring for the potluck.
Side dishes and desserts in particular would be appreciated.
The schedule for the next two monthly meetings includes:
• Feb. 20 — Tony Malmberg, a ranch management consultant from La Grande, will discuss the forage and environmental benefits of the holistic grazing techniques pioneered by Alan Savory.
• March 20 — Trish Rossell, representing the Infrared Baron company, will talk about a new type of aerial surveys that can help forest owners as well as farmers and ranchers.
More information about the Private Woodlands Association is available by calling Bob Parker, OSU Extension forester, at 541-523-6418.
