Reward offered for park table arson
By Terri Harber
There is now a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever burned a picnic table at Central Park.
The Baker City Lions Club and Baker City will each donate $250 to make up the total amount of $500.
Destruction of the table took place early Saturday and was reported to authorities just after midnight.
Combustible materials were recovered nearby, police said.
The Lions Club donated the two Central Park picnic tables with shelters to the community.
Group members collected the thousands of dollars to pay for each station through various fundraising activities.
Police will investigate the case leads. It is being classified as either a case of vandalism or a warming fire.
Central Park is sandwiched between Resort Street and the Powder River. The Leo Adler Memorial Pathway runs through it. Washington and Valley avenues border the park to the north and south.
People with information about the incident are asked to call the Baker City Police Department at 541-523-3644.
