|
The Baker School Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Baker Middle School computer lab to hear a technology update from teacher Ginger Rembold. The work session precedes the regular board meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. in the north conference room of the district office, 2090 Fourth St. The meeting will get under way by honoring Baker School Board members Deon Strommer, chair; Damien Yervasi, vice chair; and directors Ginger Savage, Rusty Munn and Lynne Burroughs. Gov. Ted Kulongoski has proclaimed January as School Board Recognition Month in Oregon. Forrest Bell of the Oregon School Boards Association will update board members on the district’s search for a new superintendent. Don Ulrey has announced he will retire in April. The board will adopt a timeline for the search during Tuesday’s meeting. In other business, the board will: • Hear a report on district school improvement plans for Brooklyn and Keating schools from principal Troy Fisher; the Baker Middle School from principal Mindi Vaughan; and Baker High School from principal Jerry Peacock. • Learn about the district’s pandemic influenza plan from South Baker principal Betty Palmer. • Receive a financial report from Doug Dalton, the district’s business manager. • Receive a classified personnel report from Ulrey. Cathleen Privett, a substitute in the district, has been hired as an instructional assistant at South Baker School, effective Jan. 4. • Hear an enrollment report from Ulrey, which will include absences from illness and food service program participation. • Accept the resignation of golf coach Scott Warner. |
