Several BHS classes plan reunions during Miners Jubilee

By Lisa Britton

For the Baker City Herald

Miners Jubilee is the traditional time for class reunions, and quite a few alumni from Baker High School are heading to their hometown for the weekend.

Here’s a line up of the classes, and the events they have planned.

Class of 1953

For their 60-year reunion, this class will get together for dinner Saturday night at the Sunridge Restaurant.

Class of 1963

Gathering to celebrate 50 years, classmates will meet Friday night from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Sunridge Restaurant for hors d’oeuvres. Visitors are welcome.

Saturday brings a float in the parade, followed that night by dinner at the Geiser Grand Hotel.

They finish out the weekend with brunch Sunday at the Sunridge.

Class of 1968

These classmates will meet for a social at the Sunridge Restaurant at 6 p.m. Friday, then gather at 2 p.m. Saturday for a barbecue at a ranch in the Rock Creek area.

Class of 1973

First, classmates will gather for dinner at the Geiser Grand Hotel Friday evening.

On Saturday, the class will be in the parade, then tour Baker High School in the afternoon, followed by a trolley ride around town.

Class of 1983

This class will first re-create their senior class photograph at 5 p.m. at the high school, and then head up to Quail Ridge Golf Course for dinner at 7 p.m.

Class of 1988

For their 25-year reunion, this class will gather from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at North Baker Elementary School’s field.

Families are invited — please bring a chair or blanket.

Their other planned event is to be in the parade, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. Classmates should be lined up by 9:30 a.m.

For more information, call Katrina Rudolph-Wise, 541-519-5566.

Class of 1993

This class is planning several events throughout the weekend.

The first is a “casual, no-host gathering” at the beer garden (at the fairgrounds) followed by the bronc riding.

On Saturday, classmates are participating in the Miners Jubilee Fun Run/Walk in honor of Mark Hentze, who passed away last year. The run begins at 8 a.m.

Next the class will gather to participate in the parade, which starts at 10 a.m.

Following the parade will be a family picnic at 12:30 p.m. in the field north of Baker High School (near the kindergarten’s playground). Everyone is asked to bring their own food and drinks (no alcohol).

Their reunion dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday  at the Sunridge Restaurant.

Class of 1998

This class will have a get-together from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Towers on Fourth St.

Families are welcome. If planning to attend, please RSVP to Lisa (Britton) Jacoby, 541-523-3681.

Class of 2003

For their 10-year reunion, this class is planning a gathering at 2 p.m. Saturday at Quail Ridge Golf Course for adults only.
