Lorene and Bob Colton ().
Lorene and Bob Colton ().

Bob and Lorene (Wiester) Colton of Baker City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, during Mass at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.

The family will host a reception afterward at 6:30 p.m. at Community Connection, 2810 Cedar St. Friends and family are welcome to Mass and the reception. The couple requests no gifts, please.

Bob and Lorene met in 1953 when Charlie and Dorothy Colton sold Harold and Irene Wiester a flock of sheep. Their families became fast friends.

Both Bob and Lorene graduated from St. Francis Academy, and they were married Oct. 11, 1958, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.

They became partners in Charles M. Colton & Sons Ranch in 1960, and have spent the last 50 years farming and ranching on Slough Road. They raised six children: Nancy (Chuck) Staten, Karen (Ali) Merdassi, Mike (Shelta) Colton, Ed Colton, Ken Colton and Mary (Rick) Shankle. They have 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
