ENGAGEMENT: Barker — Heffernan

Shannon Barker and Justin Heffernan will be married Sept. 26, 2009, in a small outdoor wedding on the beach at South Lake Tahoe, Nev.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Brad and Jami Barker of Boise. She is a 2002 Baker High School graduate, and received her Bachelor of Science degree in sociology/anthropology from Eastern Oregon University at La Grande in 2009. She is employed as a certified nurses assistant (CNA) at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande.

The groom is the son of Chris and Donna Heffernan of North Powder. He is a 2002 Powder Valley High School graduate. In 2006, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural systems management from the University of Idaho at Moscow.

He is a part owner/operator of North Slope Hay Co. and also works on the family farm outside of North Powder.

 After the wedding, the couple will honeymoon for a week in Kauai, Hawaii. The Heffernans are planning an October reception.

The couple currently live in La Grande.
