Nemolee Jackson, Charles Jones
Nemolee Jackson Nemolee H. Jackson, 80, of Sweet Home, a former Baker City resident, died April 23, 2010. His graveside service was at 2 p.m. today at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. He was born on March 19, 1930, at Glover, Okla., to Frank and Rosey McCarroll Jackson. Nemolee served in the U.S Army. He lived at Wright City, Okla., until he retired from Weyerhauser in 1992. Then the family moved to Baker City and finally to Sweet Home in 2008. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include his sons, Dennis Jackson and Melvin and his wife, Mary Jackson, all of Sweet Home; brother, Lawrence Jackson of Idabell, Okla.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jackson, who died in 2008; four sisters; and three brothers. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. www. sweethomefuneral.com Charles Jones Charles Cecil Jones, 95, a longtime Lexington resident and Baker City native, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lexington Community Church. A concluding service and burial will be at the Lexington Cemetery. He was born on Feb. 16, 1915, at Baker City, the fourth of five children born to Charles H. and Rhoda Gillkison Jones. He was raised at Union where he attended school. He was a 1933 Union High School graduate. On Aug. 12, 1937, he married Delpha K. Merritt at La Grande. In 1945 the couple moved to Lexington. He had lived on his ranch three miles northwest of Lexington for the past 48 years. He participated in many organizations for the benefit of Morrow County, including the Lexington City Council, the Odd Fellows Lodge, the County Planning Commission, the Grange and many others over the years. Survivors include son, Kenneth L. Jones of Lexington; daughter, Charlene F. Whitney of Portland; grandsons, Michael Jones of Kennewick, Wash., and Christopher Jones of Redmond; and great-grandson, Tanner Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Delpha; and granddaughter Kimberlee Ann Whitney. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heppner Odd Fellows Lodge, No. 66, P.O.
