Myron Doyle Myron Doyle Myron Doyle, a former Granite resident, died March 7, 2010, in Mexico. No funeral is planned. His ashes were put in the sea near Mexico. Myron attended high school at Mapleton while living at Deadwood where his maternal grandparents had homesteaded when they came to Oregon in a covered wagon. He lived at Eugene while attending the University of Oregon. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Marshall Islands working on aircraft. He married his wife, Irene, in 1948. They were divorced in 1970. Myron worked as a diesel mechanic and welder for many construction companies building roads and dams in Oregon, California, Washington, Nevada, Utah and Virginia and on the Alaska Pipeline in the United States. He also worked overseas in Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Venezuela. He retired to a gold mine at Granite in the company of some fine people. He mined with a childhood friend, Jim Archibald. He enjoyed the hospitality of Slim Pearson in Baker City during the cold winter months and whenever he needed good advice, his family said. After his friends died, he packed up his trailer and dog and said he was going someplace warm to die. He ended up in Mexico, where he spent his last years and died in a warm place. Survivors include his daughters, Theresa Kloster of Creswell, Patty LeClair of Marcola and Amy Olson of Eugene; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. |
