Lyn Grant Lyn Grant Lyn M. Grant, 55, of Baker City, died peacefully in the presence of her loved ones at her home Dec. 8, 2009, after a short, but hard, battle with brain cancer. Visitations will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Coles Funeral Home. There will be a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St. Pastor Michael Cross of the Baker Valley Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family afterward for a reception at the Idle Hour . Lyn was born at Milwaukee, Wis., on Sept. 22, 1954, to Richard and Ellen Fuller. Lyn was a 1972 graduate of Benicia High School at Benicia, Calif. She married Jim, the love of her life, on Aug. 27, 1982, at Pendleton. Lyn began her career in retail at the age of 9, helping out her parents who managed a Sprouse-Reitz store. Lyn and Jim met at Oak Harbor, Wash., and later moved to Pendleton to be near his family and begin their life together. She then began her 19-year-long career with Bi-Mart. During her career she was offered the opportunity to be an area coordinator of the Bi-Mart that was being built in Baker City. After numerous medical issues, she regretfully had to stop working. Lyn only had one biological child, Frankie, but easily became a second mom to numerous others, her family members said. “She was a very loving and caring woman. Whoever came into her life had food in their belly, a place to sleep, a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen — that was true to the very end,” they said. Lyn was an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners and Danielle Steel. Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Jim; son, Frankie, and his wife, Crystal, of Baker City; her mom, Ellen; sister, Lori; brother-in-law, Steve; niece Chelsea; and nephew, Chad, of Bothell, Wash. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Hospice in Baker City or a charity of one’s choice through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814. |
