Betty Lewis

Betty Josephine Shelton Lewis, 77, died Feb. 23, 2010, at Wallowa.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallowa Christian Church. There will be a potluck dinner afterward.

Betty was born on Sept. 30, 1932, at Glenns Ferry, Idaho. She married Roy Shelton on June 21, 1952, and together they raised three children, first in the Flora area and later at Lostine.

Roy died in 1997.

She married Bob Lewis on July 4, 2009. They made their home at Wallowa where they enjoyed their time visiting with friends at the Senior Center, being with their families, picking huckleberries, fishing and watching baseball.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; daughter, P.K. Shelton; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Dana Shelton and Skip and Cissy Shelton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her extended family of sister, Grace Murrill, and her husband, Don; brothers and their wives, Shorty and Dot Colpitts, Kenny and Phyllis Colpitts, Bobby and Kayleen Lewis, Vearl and Linda Sue Lewis, and Rod and Carmen Wickam; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob, Hap and Jimmy Bert Colpitts.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wallowa Senior Center, the Wallowa County Search and Rescue or a charity of one’s choice.
