Richard Moss, Lorena Gentry
Richard Moss Richard Allen Moss, 57, of Baker City, died Jan. 31, 2009, at his home. His memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Baker Valley Church of Christ, 2533 Church St. Minister John Goodyear of Baker Valley Church of Christ will officiate. Richard was born on Aug. 20, 1951, at Milton-Freewater to Charles Leslie and Florence Evelyn Dixon Moss. He graduated from Mac-Hi at Milton-Freewater and went onto trade school for sales and automotive mechanic training. He worked hard at his job as a mechanic for many years. He was also a successful salesman. Richard enjoyed camping, growing fruit and raising cattle. He had great organizational skills and loved to put them to good use. He was preceded in death by his parents C.L. and Florence Moss. Survivors include his wife, Mary “Petie” Grazin of Baker City; daughters, Carrie Potts, and her husband, Mike, and Lacy Turner and her husband, Troy, all of Milton-Freewater; brothers, Gary Moss of Baker City, Ken Moss of Walla Walla, Wash., and Howard Moss of Milton-Freewater; sisters: Judy Parent of Milton-Freewater, Janice Hammon and Lesa Sweeney, both of Walla Walla, Wash., and Nancy Slack of Hermiston; two grandsons and two granddaughters. Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Lorena J. Cross Gentry died Jan. 26, 2009. There will be no funeral. Lorena graduated in 1941 from Union High School. She met and married Donald Gentry, a Baker City resident, in 1943. They were married at Weiser, Idaho. Their only child, Patty, was born in 1945. After the war they lived at Bates. In 1950 they moved to Portland, and after a short stay in the big city, they moved to Scappoose in 1953. Mr. Gentry died in 2000. Lorena was a stay-at-home mom, excelling at gardening, sewing and cooking, her family said. After retirement she enjoyed traveling. Her trips included visits to Europe, China, Australia and New Zealand, just to name a few. A visit to the East Coast to visit her niece, Jeannie, was very meaningful to her. Summers were spent working their gold mine at Galena. Playing bingo was a passion she enjoyed with her many friends. She was a longtime member of the Chapman Grange and volunteered at the Scappoose Senior Center. Survivors include her daughter, Patty, and son-in-law, Patrick King of Hillsboro; granddaughter, Kelli Adams of Terrebonne; grandson and his wife, Rich and Robin King of Clackamas; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Venita Depue of Hermiston; several nieces and nephews; and her many friends at Springlake and Rose Valley Retirement Center. The Columbia Funeral Home of St. Helens is in charge of arrangements. |
