Ivan Guilliams, Dennis Ledridge Ivan GuilliamsIvan B. Guilliams, 73, of Durkee, died Feb. 12, 2009, at his home. At his request, his body was cremated and there will be a scattering of his ashes in the spring. Mr. Guilliams was born at Prairie City on June 15, 1935, to Howard and Lenora Davis Guilliams. He was raised at Sumpter. He was a logger, a trade he started at a young age with his father and family. He loved the forest and animals, little or big. He worked for many years for Elvin Carter as a logger, then went to work for Ellingson Lumber Co. He also worked in the mines and loved that, too, because all of the activities were started with his family. They were all very close. He loved to build things whether it was from wood, cardboard or paper. Ivan was an avid outdoorsman and he loved camping, fishing, hunting and mining. You could always count on him to be doing one of the above or just out driving in the hills hunting mushrooms or investigating new ground, his family members said. Ivan loved being around people and family; he knew no stranger. “If you gave him a minute of your time you made a friend for life,” they said. He will be missed greatly by those who knew him. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife, Marylu Guilliams of Durkee; daughters, Cindy Anderson and her husband, Cody, of Halfway, and Anne Boman and her husband, Duane, and Sheila Shukle, all of Baker City; son, Tim Guilliams of Baker City; numerous grandchildren; and friends too numerous to list. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Scott and Justin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Oregon through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814. Dennis Ledridge Dennis Ledridge, 63, of Vancouver, Wash., a former Baker City resident, died Feb. 12, 2009, at his home. There will be no funeral. Survivors include his wife, Janie; and two sons, Steven of Seattle, Wash., and Kevin of Vancouver. |
