Norma Parret


Norma Parret, 89, of Baker City, died Jan. 18, 2010, at Settler’s Park.

Her memorial service will be scheduled later at the Prairie City Cemetery.

Norma Fern Parret was born on May 17, 1920, at Austin to Walter and Ada Smyth Raines. She attended school at Prairie City.

She married Alferd Floid on April 26, 1936, at Canyon City. They began their life together at Austin and moved to Prairie City where they raised their three children.

They later lived at Unity and Hereford. Norma resided at Settler’s Park in Baker City for the past eight years.

She enjoyed sewing, beadwork, knitting, crocheting, hunting, fishing and nursing. She also volunteered for the Forest Service, which was something she really enjoyed.

Survivors include her brother, Leonard Raines of Prairie City; and her children, Alferd Parret of Heppner, Lucille Reilly of Hereford and Royce Parret of Myrtle Creek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ada Raines; her husband, Floid Parret; three brothers, Forrest, Willard, and Donald Raines; and two grandsons, Boyd Alan Parret and Rusty Reilly.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97184.
