Virginia Portillo, Lee Ferguson Virginia Portillo Virginia May Portillo, 64, of Baker City, died June 13, 2011, at a Baker City care center. There will be a private service at the Oregon Coast. Virginia was born on June 5, 1947, at Billings, Mont., to Raymond and Flora Rodriguez Portillo. She graduated from high school at Sacramento, Calif., and became a homemaker and mother. She loved reading books, watching television and crocheting. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include daughters, Rosie Beith of La Grande and Amy Crystal Portillo of Eugene; two sons, Oden Green of Eugene and Alex S. Green of Arizona; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Flora Portillo; brother, David Portillo; daughter, Dee Dee Green; and grandson Bobbie Strawn. Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
Lee Ferguson, 76, of Pendleton, died June 11, 2011, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton. At his request, there was a private family cremation. Lee was born on Nov. 3, 1934, at Sparks, Okla., to Clarence and Beaulah. He worked for the National Marine Fisheries Service and ran the fish tagging programs on the Snake and Columbia rivers. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and picking mushrooms, playing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his loving, devoted wife of 57 years, Bonnie Ferguson of Pendleton; daughters, Peggy of Crescent City, Calif., Sharla of John Day, RoxAnne of Baker City and Misty of Salem; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
