Larry Blum
Larry Blum, 74, died at his home on March 5, 2009, in Baker City. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, at 2 p.m. at the Community Connection, 2810 Cedar St. in Baker City. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held immediately following the service. Lawrence “Larry” Armour Blum was born on June 23, 1934, to Harold and Juanita (Brown) Blum in Merriam, Kan. He was raised in Coquille and graduated in 1952 from Coquille High School. Following high school he joined the Army and served two years in Korea. After the army, he attended Linfield College for four years. He has owned and operated Municipal Pipe in Baker City, since the early 70s. He was such a friendly person and treated everyone the same. Larry never knew a stranger and talked to everyone. He met and married Shirlene, his wife of 53 years, in Coquille. They have a son Robert and two grandsons, Stephen and Cory whom he loved very much. He was his happiest when holding a fishing pole in Alaska and Mexico and in his younger years skin diving. Larry is survived by his wife Shirlene; son Robert and daughter-in-law Patty; grandsons Stephen and Cory; his brother Jack; numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Ted Fluge.
