Delbert Addington
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. He was born April 3, 1925, in Riverside, Calif., to Pete and Ethel (Myers) Addington. He was raised in Southern California around Riverside. At 17, Del joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. During his service, Del received training as an air conditioning / refrigeration tech. After his honorary discharge from the military, he went on to trade school to work in the air conditioning / refrigeration industry. Del owned and operated his business in Southern California for about 20 years. In the late 1970s, Del moved to Bend and continued working as a technician. He retired from the industry around 1995. About two years ago, he moved to Baker City. Del loved to work on projects around the house. He was a good handyman and could fix just about anything. While living in Bend, he removed two houses from complete shambles to beautiful homes. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Bend and the air conditioning / refrigeration union. Del is survived by his wife, Renate Addington of Bend; son, Johnny Addington of Leona Valley, Calif., daughter, Patricia Nice of Sumner, Wash., son, David Addington of Bend, son, Michael Addington of Bend, and cousin, Roberta Mansfield of Santa Maria, Calif. Arrangements are in the care of Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814. |
