Edgar Jones

Edgar Wesley Jones, 83, a longtime Baker City resident, died Nov. 7, 2010, at his home.

His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2625 Hughes Lane. Bishop Ernie Collard of the 1st Ward will officiate.

Edgar was born on Feb 13, 1927, at Rifle, Colo., to Hayden and Mamie Henry Jones. He graduated from high school at Rifle, Colo.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served his country proudly until 1946. He had been attending Blue Mountain Community College at the time of his death.

Edgar married Marnie McConnell in 1989. She died in 2008.

Edgar was an active member of the LDS Church and loved gardening, reading and cooking. He was also an accomplished writer and had several items published.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Marnie.

Survivors include sons, John Jones of California and Brian Jones and his wife, Laurie, of Elk Grove, Calif.; daughters, Julie Mespelt and her husband, David, of Baker City, Heather Hore and her husband, Bill, of Richland, Wash., Gwen Herman of Hermiston and Lori Waldo and husband, Tracy, of Richland, Wash.; and 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
