Nadeen Haworth, Gary Glen, Jerry Litteral, 'Patti' Durgan Nadeen Haworth Nadeen Welter Haworth, 86, a former Baker City resident, died Oct. 13, 2009, at John Day. Kathryn Nadeen Welter was born on Sept. 3, 1923, at Baker City to Henry and Katherine Woll Welter. She was raised at Baker City and was a Baker High School graduate. After graduation from high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy. She was stationed for a time at San Diego, where she met her future husband, Richard Haworth, who was also in the Navy. Nadeen and Richard were married at San Diego in 1944. In 1945, their daughter, Kathy, was born at Baker City were they lived for a while before moving to Myrtle Point where their daughter, Celia, was born. Nadeen worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife program at Olympia, Wash., starting in 1975 and retiring in 1986. During her life she was very involved with St. Andrew’s Methodist Church at Lacy, Wash. She loved to sing, was involved in the choir and was also a soloist. She also was very active in P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). In her later years, she lived at Panorama City Retirement Center in Lacy, Wash., until she moved to the John Day area with her daughter, Kathy. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Celia Wagner; brothers, Arland and Albert; and her sister, Harriet. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy, and her husband, Dennis McKinnon, of John Day; three granddaughters, Tammy Frazier and her husband, Rick, of Damascus, Stefi Cotner and her husband, John, of Boise and Lara Weaver and her husband, Michael, of Bereen, Pa.; six great-grandchildren; brother, Clifton Welter of Baker City; and her beloved cat “Gabby.” Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Andrews Methodist Church or P.E.O. Olympia, Wash., through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834. Gary Glenn Gary James Glenn, 69, of Kuna, Idaho, died Oct. 14, 2009, after a long illness. There was a Celebration of Life service Tuesday at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise. The Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, was in charge of arrangements. Gary was born on Aug. 14, 1940, at Boise. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Riverwind Fellowship Church. Gary attended Boise High School, Boise Junior College and Carter Carburetor School. He was a master of many trades and could fix just about anything. He built custom homes and was an Ada County Assessor. He owned and operated “Gary’s Auto Hearse” and “Boots & Saddles” repair shop in Kuna for several years. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Cleoria Glenn; a daughter, Cari Sylvia, of Boise; sons, James and his wife, Karie, of Kuna, and Shane and his wife, Debbie, of Boise; and sister, Jacqueline Otteson and her husband, Norman,of Reno, Nev.; four stepchildren, Debbie Clem, Cynde Nichols, Curtis Kessel and Tami Ruell; seven grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; three nieces, Katherine, Dawn Elizabeth and Paula; and one nephew, David. The family expressed special thanks to everyone who helped in his care, especially his stepdaughter, Debbie Clem, who was always there when needed. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vera Glenn Barnhart; his son, Gary Glenn Jr., and two stepgrandchildren, Murphy Nichols and Joshua Kessel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Jerry Litteral Jerry David Litteral, 70, died Oct. 17, 2009, at Irving, Texas. There will be a celebration of his life and potluck dinner at 1 p.m. Nov. 7 at 2305 Second St. Survivors include his wife, Robin of Watauga, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, K.C. and Ryan Zanercik of Vilsek, Germany; son, Dustin Litteral of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Ashlyn, Bralen, Cooper and Alley, all of Texas and Ellie of Germany; and three sisters, Marilyn Sutton, Patricia Horn and Brenda Sherburn, all of Baker City. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Litteral; his mother, Thelma Sutton (Litteral); and a sister, Sandra Bracken.
Patricia Louisa “Patti” Durgan, 69, of Baker City died Oct. 19, 2009, at her residence. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, 1734 Third St. Pastor Mel Harris will officiate. Vault interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. There will be a reception afterward at the First Lutheran Church. Patti was born on Aug. 21, 1940, at DeLano, Calif., to Walter and Sarah Oh Hahn. She attended high school at Inglewood High, graduating in 1958. She worked as a computer operator for the U.S. Forest Service and retired in 1995. Patti married Albert Durgan in 1983 at Ontario. She enjoyed golf, quilting, cooking, reading, traveling, shopping, fishing, flowers and volunteer work. Patti was on the P.E.O. Election Board, the Altar Guild, Birthday Clubs and the hospital auxiliary board. Survivors include her husband, Albert Durgan, and her mother Sarah Hansen, both of Baker City; a sister, Joey Okura of Orange, Calif.; son, Chris Neill of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Julie Fuzi of Baker City; son, Donn Durgan of Lewiston, Idaho, and Dan Durgan of Beaverton; and daughter, Lori Bernstein of Boise; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Hahn; and one sister, Cheryl Fisher.
