Evelyn Keith
Evelyn Jean Johnson Keith, 79, of Baker City, died Oct. 18, 2011, after a brief illness.
The family will hold a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to be made in Evelyn’s name to a charity of your choice through Coles Tribute Center 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
Evelyn was born on Oct. 5, 1932, at Woodland, Wash., to Morris C. and Olga Janke Johnson. She graduated from Baker High School in 1950 and married Frank Silas Keith on Nov. 12, 1950.
Her family will forever cherish her beautiful handmade afghans, which adorn many family and friends’ homes. She will also be remembered for her special talent for playing the piano, entertaining with such songs as “Spaghetti Rag,” “In The Mood,” “You Made Me Love You,” and the theme from “The Sting.” Evelyn always strived to make things nice and comfortable for everyone in her home, and many wonderfully prepared turkey dinner meals with all the fixings were enjoyed there. She had a warm and sincere smile that put others at ease, and her strength was in her gentleness and sense of humor. Our beloved Evelyn will be deeply missed by many people.
