Obituaries for Sept. 14, 2011
Allan Wayne Linde, 48, of La Grande, a former Baker City resident, died Sept. 2, 2011, at his home, with his family by his side.
There will be a potluck celebration of Allan’s life at 2 p.m. Sept. 25 at 62851 Philynda Loop, off Buchanan Lane, in Island City. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember Al with love, laughter, good food and the sound of music and to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a man who was loved by many, family members said.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1962, at Norwalk, Calif., to Gordon Stanley and Diane Mae Olson Linde. He was raised at Buena Park, Calif., with his family. He later moved to Baker City where he lived for several years and then he moved on. He spent the rest of his time where he made his final resting place — in La Grande with his family.
Allan was a remarkable husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, his family said. He enjoyed bow hunting, camping, fishing, watching his favorite football team, the Oakland Raiders, and he definitely loved his NASCAR boys (Dale Sr. and Jr.).
Allan was also an avid member of the Grande Ronde Hospital American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team. He walked for and in honor of cancer patients everywhere until he could no longer actively participate by walking because of his own health issues. Yet, he was still supportive on the sidelines until the end, his family said.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Linde of La Grande; his children, Cherish Drake-Linde of Baker City; Blake Nelson of Sacramento, Calif.; Heather, George, Chelsea, Faith and Jaxon Middleton, all of La Grande; and baby daughter, Allie Mae Linde of La Grande; his brother Mike Linde of Ogden, Utah; sister, Vicki Rasmussen of Youngstown, Fla.; brother, Kevin Linde of Baker City; and brother Robert Linde of Baker City; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his Aunt Olivia Linde; his parents, Gordon and Diane Linde; his paternal grandparents, Herman and Ann Linde; and his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Esther Olson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1504 Fourth St., La Grande, OR 97850.
‘Bill’ BonnerWilliam “Bill” Osborn Bonner, 56, of Baker City and Union, died Sept. 10, 2011, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
His graveside service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Bill was born on July 28, 1955, at Bakersfield, Calif., to David and Essie Adamson Bonner. He was raised at Bakersfield and attended high school there until the death of his father.
At that time, he had a choice to go live with relatives or to join the U.S. Navy. At the age of 16fi, his uncle took him to the recruiter and he enlisted in the Navy.
Bill was proud to serve his country and did so for four years. When he was honorably discharged, Bill began working as a carpet installer. He continued in that line of work until he moved to Baker City in 2001.
Bill enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time on the computer. He also had a wonderful bulldog “Sugar” and enjoyed taking her for her daily walks around town.
His family members say he was the “best husband and loving brother.” He will be missed very much, they added.
He was preceded in death by his father David Bonner; brothers, Ricky, who died in 1983, and Troy Lee, who died when he was 2; and sister, Mancie Faye, who died in 1956.
Survivors include his wife, Maria; his mother, Essie; his son, William Jr.; three grandchildren; brothers, David, and his wife, Dawn Kennedy, of Baker City, James Franklin Bonner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kenneth Swint of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Regina Bonner of Kansas City, Mo.; nieces, Olivia Rae and Davinia Annette; several nephews; and his bulldog “Sugar.”
