Margaret Bond

Margaret Fisher Bond, 91, died Sept. 21, 2010, at Boise.

Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Haines Baptist Church.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1918, at Pendleton to John and Avaline Fisher, the fourth of their seven children. At age 11 an older neighbor boy, Turner “Shorty” Bond, caught her eye and she vowed she would marry him. The dream came true on Sept. 11, 1938.

The couple lived in various towns throughout Oregon. In addition to raising her family of four children, Margaret sold real estate for several years, but her real work was nurturing the members of her family, particularly in times of trouble.

Survivors include her brother, Elbert Fisher and his wife, Evelyne, of Haines; and her children, Nancy Ottis and her husband, Larry of Grants Pass, Patricia Heeb of Boise, Drake Bond and his wife, Donae, of Shingletown, Calif., and Chris Bond of Portland; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roy Fisher; and her sisters, Lois Bond, Maye Stills, Ruth Pettit, and Elaine Wheeler; and her husband, Turner.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
