Obituary for Dec. 16, 2013

Diana Barber

Baker City, 1948-2013

Diana Sue Barber, 67, of Baker City died Dec. 10, 2013, at St. Alphonsus Health Care Center.

There will be a small service to bid farewell to Diana on June 7 at the Elkhorn Muzzle Loader shooting range in Durkee Valley.

Diana was born on Sept. 27, 1948, at Humboldt, Tenn., to Manuel Ray Talley and Mary Frances. She grew up in Tennessee and Ohio, until she moved to Baker City in 1999 to take care of her ailing mother, and had lived here since.

Diana loved camping, fishing, hunting, anything to do with the outdoors with her dearest friend, Tracy Humphries, and her husband, Steven. These interests led to her love and enjoyment of being a member of the Elkhorn Muzzle Loaders Club.

She was the secretary and also scorekeeper for a couple years. Diana might not have been able to participate much but she was always willing to lend a helping hand and was happy to help in any way she could.

Diana was a devoted mother, friend and sibling, family members said. She loved working as a security guard back in Ohio and told many tales of her encounters on the job. She was proud of her Indian heritage and went by the name Halfbreed.

Survivors include three children, Tamie Sue Peck of Springfield, Tenn., Frances Ann Barber of Phoenix, Ariz., and Robert Willis Barber of Madison, Ohio; grandchildren: Kara Krynn, Racheal Marie, Nicole Kimberly, Katrina Teresa and Jessica Marie; great-grandchildren, Keagan, Ilse and Hannah; her siblings, Stephen Talley, Kenny Wright, Dolores Golden and Vernon Evans.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Wright.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkhorn Muzzle Loaders Club through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
