Obituary for Sept. 24, 2012

Sheila Russo

Richland, 1939-2012

Sheila Russo, 73, of Richland, died Sept. 15, 2012, at her home.

Sheila was born on Jan. 12, 1939, at San Diego. She lived part time with her grandparents, Lester and Phoebe Brown, at Fallbrook, Calif., while her dad, Jack Thiel, served in the U.S. Navy, from which he retired.

Sheila’s mother, Marion Louise Brown, died of a heart attack when Sheila was very young. She grew up in the San Diego area.

She married Andrew Russo on March 16, 1977, while working as a senior cook for the San Diego Unified School District.

Sheila also worked as a floral designer in San Diego before serving the family business as an insurance administrator. She worked in that role until her retirement.

In her youth, Sheila was a rough-water swimmer. She loved to travel, thoroughly enjoyed nature and was an animal lover, family members said.

She also was a history buff and traveled extensively and continued to do so on the Internet after her health failed her.

She loved life and lived it to the fullest, her family said.

Sheila was lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. After her retirement, she and Andy enjoyed being full-time RV’ers. They served as camp hosts for Idaho Power parks for 10 years. They bought their home at Richland in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her 19-year-old son, Troy Vincent Sinnott; her father, Jack Thiel; and her mother, Marion Louise Brown.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Andy; daughters, Kim Gibson of San Diego and Stormy Rene Namer of Eagle, Idaho; stepchildren, Dena Lynn Arbaugh of Big Bear Lake, Calif., and Andrew F. Russo III of Iowa City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834
