A Super Bowl Sunday super deal: $10 lift ticket

For the first time since 1999, I didn't buy a season pass to Ski Anthony Lakes.
"Make me regret it," I taunted the weather.
OK, I regret it.
on the mountain are excellent this season, thanks to a series of storms that dropped six feet of new stuff in January and another two feet in the last week. When the storms hit right, they add up to successive days of operations with fresh powder.
That's not something to miss.
So what's a non-season pass holder to do?
Economize. Or as Warren Miller put it, "Spare no expense to ski for free."
So far, the best bargains I've taken advantage of are:
THURSDAY 1/2 DAY: Thursdays are half-price, $16. So the 1/2 price, 1/2 day ticket is $11.50. Added bonus: the ski area is closed Monday through Wednesday, so any new snow is yours for the taking on Thursdays.
CHARITY: I rounded up enough donations to the Red Cross earlier this season to score free tickets for myself and a friend. I'm on the lookout for the next charity in need.
SPECIAL EVENTS: The Super Bowl often draws skiers away from the mountains, but a deal like the one Anthony Lakes is offering could doom the NFL. Show up in a football jersey on Super Bowl Sunday, get a $10 lift ticket.
