Wallowa Loop Road to be plowed, but it’s not open

The south section of the Wallowa Mountain Loop Road (Forest Road 39) will be plowed of snow from its junction with State Highway 86 to the junction with Forest Road 3965 (the Hells Canyon Overlook road) for emergency repair of a downed high-power transmission line.

The road will not be plowed for public access and the road entrance will be blocked during and after line repair, according to a press release.

“The road will only be plowed to a single lane width,” Mary DeAguero, Hells Canyon National Recreation Area district ranger, said in the release. “For user safety, the road will remain closed to the public until officially open.”

For more information, call Mary Ellen Emerick, 541-426-5536.
