All-stars named

GOL all-league baseball


Eight members of the Baker baseball team were selected on the Greater Oregon League all-league teams last week.

Baker coach Dan Blankenship was named GOL Coach of the Year.

Selected to the GOL first team were catcher Matt Gorrell, first baseman Dekker Smith, shortstop Derek Blankenship, second baseman Ty Everson, outfielder Stephen Talbot, and utility player Trace Richardson.

Will Barr was named second-team pitcher.

La Grande’s Zach Nice and Ontario’s Josh Mejia were named GOL co-Players of the Year.

GOL all-league softball


Ten members of the Baker softball team were selected to the Greater Oregon League all-league teams last week.

Selected to the first team were pitcher Darryn McCauley, catcher Becca Joseph, infielders McCauley and Laura Wilson, outfielder Tori Brown, utility player Sierra Howerton and designated hitter Danielle Freese.

Named to the second team were Brown at pitcher, Jessi Stephens and Mackenzie Srack as infielders and Morgan Johnson in the outfield.

Aubree Shepherd received honorable mention as at outfielder.

Duo selected for hoop series


Baker seniors Derek Blankenship and Mackenzie Warner have been selected to play in the 2010 OHSGBCA and Gatorade/OACA all-star basketball series in June.

Warnr was selcted for the OHSGBCA series June 18-19 at Corban College in Salem and George Fox University in Newberg.

June 18 at Corban, the 4A game begins at 8 p.m. June 19 at George Fox the 4A game begins at 4 p.m.

Admission is $5 adults $3 seniors, students and children age 7 and older. Kids 6 and under will be admitted free.

Blankenship was selected for the Gatorade/OACA series June 18 at Northwest Christian University in Eugene and June 19 at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City.
The 4A game begins at 5 p.m. each evening.

Admission is $5 adults, $4 students, $2 seniors and youth.
