Baker has had a bad habit of not playing complete baseball games this season.

Such was the case against Columbia, Idaho, Tuesday at Nampa.

Baker played well for six innings, but fell apart in the seventh to drop a 6-5 nonleague decision.

“It was a real great game for us through six innings,” said Baker coach Dan Blankenship.

“A lot of good things were happening. Then, in the seventh, a lot of bad things happened.”

Baker led 5-1 entering the seventh. Columbia then scored five times to take the win.

Baker pitcher Mason Cline walked two hitters and was replaced by Chace Dixon.

Dixon had no better luck, facing three hitters and allowing two hits and walking a batter.

Dixon was then replaced by Clay LeaMaster.

Among Columbia’s runs in the inning, one each scored on a walk, a balk and a Baker error.

Baker scored two runs in the first inning. Kody Younger walked and Keaton Bachman singled. Both scored on a single by Caleb Custer.

The Bulldogs added three runs in the fourth. Micah Mespelt and Dillon Blankenship each was hit by a pitch. Both scored on a Mason Cline double. Bachman then singled Cline in.

Baker returns to Greater Oregon league action Saturday with a doubleheader at Ontario.
