Badgers take third at Crane

Powder Valley picked up its first win of the season Saturday, and in the process placed third at the Crane boys basketball tournament. The Badgers (1-5) defeated McDermitt, Nev., 72-56 to take third place. Powder Valley lost 57-50 to Dayville-Monument Friday. Against McDermitt, the Badgers had four players in double figures led by Peter Colton’s 29. “We finally got a win,” said Powder coach Kyle Dixon. “We finally broke out of a little shooting slump we’ve been in.” Marcus Pratt added 12 points, Tyler Clark 11, and Noe Benites 10. Colton also led Powder Valley against Dayville-Monument with 20 points. Benites chipped in 10. The Badgers will play Wednesday through Friday this week at a tournament at La Grande.
