Baker JV softball splits doubleheader with Grant Union

Baker split a girls junior varsity softball doubleheader with Grant Union Tuesday at the Baker Sports Complex.

Baker won the first game 39-1, but lost the second game 36-25.

Sierra Howerton threw the first four innings in Game 1 to gain the win. Howerton allowed one hit and struck out four. Sarah Shankle pitched the fifth inning, allowing one run.

Howerton led Baker’s offense with four hits, including a double.

Darion Grove added three hits, Abi Smith two doubles, Shankle two hits, and Taylor McAdams two hits. Haylee Johnson, Taylor Ellis, Freels and Lexi Grove each added a hit.

In Game 2, McAdams, Shankle and Johnson pitched.

Smith led Baker’s offense with three doubles and a triple. Kyana Chaves added a solo home run.

Ellis had three hits, including a double; Grove four hits, including a doble; Johnson three hits, Katie McCarrell a double, and Taylor Nelson a double.

Stephanie Sheperd, Freels, Shankle, Morgan Morris and McAdams each added singles.
