Baker dominates all-state football picks

The state champion Baker Bulldogs dominated the Class 4A all-state football teams much as they did with North Bend in the state title game on Dec. 1. Baker swept the top categories. Linebacker Trent Taylor was named defensive player of the year, quarterback Braden Phillips offensive player of the year, and Dave Johnson as coach of the year. Other Baker players selected to the offensive first team are: • Trent Taylor, running back • Dane Bachman, wide receiver • Danny O’Neal, offensive line • Jorden Osborn, offensive line • Grayson Swiger, offensive line Other Bulldogs named to the defensive first team: • Danny O’Neal, defensive line • Jorden Osborn, defensive line • Braden Phillips, defensive back • Dane Bachman, defensive back Baker also had players selected to the second team and honorable mention lists. • Darren Dolby, second team, defensive back • Jake Grammon, honorable mention, defensive line • Tyler Talbot, honorable mention, linebacker All-state teams were selected by a vote of coaches, and tallied by Andrew DeYoe of The Oregonian. |
