Baker dominates all-state teams

By GERRY STEELE Baker City Herald The Class 4A state-champion Baker Bulldogs had 10 players named to the Class 4A all-state football teams released recently by The Oregonian newspaper. Baker senior quarterback Jesse Brown was named Class 4A offensive player of the year, senior defensive end Jake Skillings 4A defensive player of the year, and Coach Dave Johnson 4A coach of the year. Brown joined four Baker teammates on the 4A first-team offense. Brown was named quarterback of the year. Senior Stephen Talbot was named first-team running back, senior Justin Durflinger first-team wide receiver, senior Will Barr first-team tight end, and senior Joe Black, first-team guard. Senior Devon Baldwin was named second-team guard. Skillings, Black, Barr and Brown led six Bulldogs on the 4A first-team defense. Skillings and Black were named on the defensive line. Barr was named at linebacker, and Brown in the defensive secondary. Seniors Ty Everson and Ty Parry were named first-team defensive backs as well. Junior linebacker Colten Richards was named to the second team. |
